While a student at the University of Southern Indiana, Robert decided to pursue a career similar to that of his Father. Upon graduation with a BS in Accounting, he moved J.R. Helms & Associates, P.C. into the realm of a family business, thus providing a second generation perspective of public accounting, and how we should address the needs of our Clients. Robert has not only been involved in income tax preparation, but also in mastering and expanding the payroll processing and accounting segments of the firms menu of services. During a year acting as the corporate controller for a multi-million dollar technology client, he took his book learning and text book theory outside the classroom and gained a real world perspective of the day to day challenges of a business in today’s rapidly changing world. During that year of unique consulting opportunity, he gained insight and experience in many areas of business from corporate production and inventory accounting to daily cash flow challenges, Payroll administration and HR considerations, insurance needs to financial statement presentation and working with lending institutions.
Although obtained through quite a different path than his Father, Robert too, has developed a unique, 2 sided, 3 dimensional view of the skill set required to succeed in the accounting and business world of today and how insure success into tomorrow.
